Kolkata/UNI: A two-judge bench of Calcutta High Court observed on Friday that the court would give green light to hold Ganga Sagar Mela if the state government enforce restrictions to combat covid-19.

The bench head by Chief Justice T B Radhakrishnan said the bench was happy with the affidavit, submitted by the state health department.

"The court waiting for the state chief secretary's assurance before the court that necessary measures like social distancing and the wearing of mask would be maintained by the pilgrims and others attending the Mela," the bench said.

The matter would come up for further hearing on Jan 13, when the fate of the Meal would be decided.
