Atiq Ahmed was in jail and had 100 crimnal cases against him. His son Asad Ahmed and aide Ghulam were killed in a police encounter two days ago on April 13.

The slain gangster's lawyer Vijay Mishra said Ahmed and his brother were shot at close range by someone in a crowd. Mishra claimed that he was standing with them when the incident happened, reported NDTV.

Mishra said two individuals have been arrested in connection with the killings, but the police have not released a statement on the matter yet.
