New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Saturday visited the Dwarka Sector 21 metro station, which is fitted with solar panels funded by Germany's a state-owned development bank KfW.

Merkel was briefed by officials of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation about the solar project.

“Germany is committed to the use of renewable energy. The German development bank Kfw provided funds for the setting up of the photovoltaic project on top of the metro station," an official said.

The visiting German Chancellor spent about half-an-hour at the metro station and also interacted with an e-auto driver Raj Kumar.

Merkel was in India for high level meetings including a bilateral engagement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Both sides inked as many as 17 MoUs on different sectors here on Friday.
