Group of students from Sikkim call on MoS (Home) Kiren Rijiju
The 32 member excursion group comprised of 17 girls, 12 boys and 3 teachers. These students are from Government Secondary School, Lanchen and Tasa Tengay Government School, Chungthan, North Sikkim and presently studying in class 8thand 9th.
The 12 day tour from Jan 13 to Jan 24, 2017 has been organised by the 11th Battalion of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) under Civic Action Programme (CAP).
The group is visiting various historical and important places in the Capital. The children have visited Parliament House, India Gate, National Museum and Qutub Minar in Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Rijiju complimented ITBP for organizing the tour and providing the children from the remote region an opportunity to visit the national capital.
He said the tour is important for these children in order to have practical knowledge about various aspects of the country.
While interacting with the students, Rijiju said that this is the first visit outside Sikkim for many of these students.
He said that the students should share their experiences with their friends and relatives.
He encouraged the students to attain good education for their future.
The DG, ITBP, Krishna Chaudhary and senior officers were also present on the occasion.
