GST Bill : BJP issues whip to members

| | Aug 01, 2016, at 07:41 pm
New Delhi, Aug 1 (IBNS) : As the Government races against the clock to give push for the ambitious Goods and Services Tax bill, the ruling BJP has issued a whip asking all its MPs to be present in the Rajya Sabha for the next three days, reports said.

The whip comes ahead of the vote on the proposal in Parliament and after the Government wins the support of most parties through negotiations.

The GST bill  must get the support of two-thirds of the Rajya Sabha, which has 243 members. The objections of the Congress have been accommodated in last week's changes to the proposal. The current session of Parliament will end on August 12.
