Haryana rape: Woman alleges gang-rape, case filed

New Delhi, Feb 28 (IBNS): A woman on Sunday alleged that she was gang-raped in Haryana's Murthal village during the Jat quota protest which had hit the state last week.

The police have registered a case in connection with the matter.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajshree Singh was quoted as saying by NDTV: "The police will now investigate the charges."

The Haryana government on Saturday said it has constituted a three-member committee to investigate into the alleged incident of sexual assault of women near Murthal in Sonipat area of the state during the recent agitation by the people belonging to the Jat community over the issue of reservation.

"3 member committee constituted by Govt.to gather info.re:alleged incident of sexual assault near Murthal is investigating matter thoroughly," Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar tweeted.

He said actions will taken against those found guilty of committing the alleged crime.

"Efforts are being made to identify those involved in the alleged incident, as the strictest possible action would be taken against them," the CM said.

The committee has been formed amid reports that several were sexual assaulted during the protests which hit the state recently.
