Heavy rain hampers train services in Chennai, more downpour likely

Chennai, Nov 9 (IBNS) Hours after the threat of a cyclone receded heavy rain pounded Chennai, submerging track and badly affecting train services.

Met office said the rain was triggered under the influence of a depression.

It said the cyclone will "cross the Bay of Bengal  coast and will make a landfall near Puducherry. There will be rain in most parts of Tamil Nadu.

Schools and colleges are shut in Puducherry, Chennai and adjoining districts Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur.

Fishermen in Tamil Nadu have been advised to avoid going out to sea in the next 48 hours as the sea will be rough to very rough.
