Heavy rains lead to water logging in Guwahati, woman dies in landslide

Guwahati, Aug 24 (IBNS): A woman died in a massive landslide that took place near Jorabat area, in the outskirts of Guwahati due to the heavy rains that inundated many parts of the capital city of Assam.

According to the reports, the deceased woman has been identified as 70-year-old Indira Devi.

She died on spot after her house collapsed in the landslide.

Meanwhile, massive water logging happened in many parts of Guwahati, which paralyzed normal life in the city on Friday.

Many roads and by lanes in the city have been submerged in water following heavy downpour which lashed the city for nearly an hour.

The water logging led to massive traffic jam across the city with vehicular movement coming to halt in many parts.
