Heavy rains: PM Narendra Modi speaks to Karnataka CM Bommai, takes stock of situation
Bengaluru/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke to Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on incessant rains and inundation in the state.
The PM also took stock of the situation in the state.
"Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji spoke to me on the flood situation caused by heavy rains in the state," Bommai wrote on Twitter.
Karnataka CM further said, "PM expressed grief over the loss of lives and deep concern over the crop damages. PM assured all possible support from the Centre."
Meanwhile, the Bommai government has directed the Deputy Commissioners to deposit compensation into the accounts of the distressed farmers who lost their standing crops by Nov 30.

PM expressed grief over the loss of lives and deep concern over the crop damages. PM assured all possible support from the Centre.
Compensations of Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh have been announced for them as per various government schemes.
At least 658 houses were completely damaged, while 8,495 homes were partially damaged.
191 livestock were reported dead, CMO said.
A compensation of Rs 1 lakh has been announced for the damaged house.
The government has released Rs 500 crore for repair of roads and bridges damaged, and have made emergency rescue teams in Bengaluru.
Copious rains have caused lakes in Yelahanka, Allalasandra, Jakkur and Singapura in North Bengaluru to overflow and flood adjacent residential areas.
Manyata Tech Park near was inundated too, forcing the offices to shut down.
Bengaluru is likely to receive light to moderate showers for the next 48 hours. Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to take place in the next 24 hours at isolated places over Karnataka.
