Hemant Soren meets Sonia ahead of swearing-in
New Delhi/UNI: Jharkhand Chief Minister-designate Hemant Soren on Wednesday met Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi here and invited her to his swearing-in ceremony on Dec 29.
After the meeting, Soren told newspersons that he has invited Sonia and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for the oath-taking ceremony.
The JMM working president also said that he would invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the ceremony.
Soren met Governor Draupadi Murmu at the Raj Bhawan in Ranchi last evening after he was elected legislative leader and staked claim to form the new government in the state.
He gave a letter of support of 50 MLAs to the governor.
Soren will take oath as the 11th Chief Minister of the state in a ceremony at the Morhabadi ground in capital Ranchi at 1 PM on Sunday.
The Mahagathbandhan comprising the JMM, Congress and RJD came to power in Jharkhand after winning 47 seats in the 81-member Assembly in the elections held in November-December.
