Himachal Pradesh: Four pilgrims injured during Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra
Shimla, Jul 17(UNI) Four pilgrims sustained minor injuries as an avalanche hit group of devotees, who were climbing to Shrikhand near Nain Sarovar in Nirmand subdivision of Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh.
Tehsildar Nirmand, Niraja Sharma confirmed "a small part of glacier broke off and collapsed on way, near Nain Sarovar after rainfall and hit four pilgirms, who were now hospitalised."
All the injured were out of danger now, she added.
The injured pilgrims rescued from Parvat Bagh were Rajeev of Ludhiyana, Vivek of Pune, Baba of Maharashtra and Namlesh Patel of Maharashtra.
A 35-yr-old, Ahemadabad Lady pilgrim identified as Deyangni Beas was rescued from the Parvati Bagh.
The Pilgrims, who are suffering from high altitude sickness and congestion were given first aid at Parvati Bagh relief camp.
She said that movement of pilgrims was disrupted from Tuesday after the mishap.
The Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra began on July 15.
After receiving the information of avalanche, a rescue party rushed to spot to help the victims.
Pilgrims were not allowed to move up above ''Bhimdawar''. The administrations claimed that along with the four injured, it rescued about 50 to 60 pilgrims, who were now safe in camps.
She said that Yatra has been suspended temporarily due to bad weather.
Sharma said that administration advised the pilgrimage to stay in their camps and no further registration to be done.
