Guwahati, Nov 29 (IBNS): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that Al Qaeda is a serious threat to India and no one should take it lightly.

Addressing a key internal security meeting, Singh said: “We should not allow global terror groups to gain foothold in India. Al Qaeda’s India operation will not succeed.”

He said that some misguided youths are may be getting attractive by ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) ideology.

“ISIS is a major challenge and it is a cause of worry. We are taking all threats as challenges… the Indian subcontinent may not remain untouched by ISIS,” the Home Minister added..

Singh, however, said that he is confident that Indian youths would reject the idea of ISIS which is trying to attract Indian youths.

He said that terrorist groups are finding it more difficult to appoint youths in their module from Kashmir.

Addressing a police chief’s conference, the minister emphasized on the issue of coastal security and cyber crime.

“It is very important to ensure the security along the vast coastline. We must also make use of the cyber space and look out for those who are trying to vitiate the social media platform by using it for the purpose,” Singh said urging the police force of the country to be more people-friendly and at the same time fearless.

He said that the issue of Left-wing extremist should be tackled effectively.  Singh said that his government is also committed to develop the North east region with a special focus on the infrastructure sector.
