Huge ammunition recovered from Kolkata hotel, 3 held
According to reports, acting on a tip off, a team of CID raided a guest house near Kidderpore Fancy Market area and made the arrests and ammunition recovery.
"Based on credible source inputs, we carried out raid at Arshad Guest House near Kidderpore Fancy Market at around 12:50 pm on Tuesday and recovered as many as 69 rounds of cartridges from a hotel room," a CID official told IBNS.
"We have booked three illegal arms traffickers, including this ammunition trafficking racket's key operator Jamirul Hasan alias Vicky and his close aids- Md. Sabbir and Md. Tarik, from the guest house. They all are residents of Bihar," the official added.
A senior official of Bengal CID said that the nabbed persons used to traffic illegal arms and cartridges, made in Bihar's Munger district, to Malda, South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal via Kolkata.
"We are interrogating these men to know about others involved in the illegal ammunition trafficking racket," the official added.
However, these three arrested have been charged under Arms Act section 25(1)(a) and they are likely to be produced before a local court in Kolkata on Wednesday.
