Huge cache of arms-ammunition recovered in Nagaland

Kohima, Apr 2 (IBNS): The troops of Assam Rifles apprehended one NSCN (R) militant along with three civilians and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in Nagaland on Sunday evening, officials said on Monday. 

Based on intelligence input, the Mokokchung battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR North) conducted an operation along with a police at Longleng area near Mokokchung and apprehended one NSCN (R) militant along with  three civilians in  illegal possession of arms and ammunition.

Security personnel recovered nine muzzle loaded Rifles, one 12 bore Rifles, one point 22mm rifle with magazine, one point 22 pistol with magazine, 10 live rounds  of AK-47 rifle, 12 live rounds of 12 bore rifle, 46 live rounds of point 22mm, 27 live rounds of 7.35mm, 50 grams gun powder, drugs to include brown sugar and opium worth of Rs 1,15,000, Rs 30742 in cash and 13 bottles of liquor.

The nabbed militant and civilians were identified as Self Styled Corporal Mankub Phom, Taushong Phom, Nganom Phom and Phamugee Phom.

Later, the apprehendees along with recovered items were handed over to Longleng Police Station for further investigation.
