New Delhi, Aug 9 (IBNS) The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Sunday said one Israeli mountaineer has been rescued from Stok Kangri region of Ladakh.

"Today, one Israeli mountaineer had fallen closer to 3000 feet.  He was unconcious and evacuated this morning from STOK KANGRI  at an elevation of  18350  feet Density Altitude under the formation of Wing Commander BS Sehrawat VM and Wing Commander KS Negi.  The casualty was then moved to Sonam Norbu hospital Leh," read an official statement.

"This was a very  challenging effort which requires exceptional skill and judgement . The degree of difficulty was high due to high altitude, steep slope, knee level snow slope, turbulent winds and restricted space.  The mountaineer  was spotted within 10 minutes of take off and evacuated within 25 minutes by the IAF Cheetah helicopter," it said.
