IAS officers in Bihar deny forming human chain to protest arrest of colleague
“We didn’t form any human chain; rather we were waiting for our colleagues who had gone to meet the Governor,” was how majority of the IAS officials replied to the show-cause notice served on them, as per media reports.
In their reply, the officers said that they left the district headquarters at the invitation of the IAS Officers Association to attend a meeting in Patna, reports said.
The officials have sent their reply in response to show-cause notices served on them by the state government after they were found forming a human chain outside the Raj Bhawan in Patna on February 26 reportedly to protest against the arrest of their colleague Sudhir Kumar.
Around 30 district magistrates had reportedly participated in the human chain formation though some 120 IAS officers, including some retired ones, had attended the meeting of the association.
Kumar, a senior IAS officer and former chairman of Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC), was arrested by the police in connection with the question paper leak scandal. He is currently in jail.
