'INDIA' is ready to take BJP head-on: Mamata Banerjee after Bengaluru meet

Kolkata/IBNS/UNI: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been 'shivering with fear' since the time they came to know about the Opposition alliance.

Taking a swipe at the saffron brigade, Banerjee iterated that democracy is at stake during the BJP regime at the Centre.

Stating that the BJP’s sole focus is to create unrest, and violence, and divide the society, Banerjee commented, "They have no other job, apart from indulging in destructive politics."

"However, INDIA is ready for the battle, and BJP will get a decisive reply. The people will reply to BJP, and INDIA will face the battle. BJP, which keeps dreaming about toppling state governments, have now realised that their government at the Centre will be toppled by the people of INDIA very soon," thundered Banerjee.

The Chief Minister, who visited state-run SSKM Hospital to meet the Trinamool Party workers, injured in Panchayat election-related violence, said, "I came to SSKM Hospital to meet the victims of those who have faced the brunt of attack from BJP goons in Nandigram and Khejuri. The violence that has been perpetrated by the BJP across the State is condemnable."

"BJP couldn’t defeat us electorally and have, therefore, resorted to violence and thrashed our party workers. Some of them are burnt badly too. Our State ministers are in touch with the victim’s families and we will provide them with all aid necessary, " the Chief Minister said.

"All those raising hue and cry about violence during the Panchayat Elections, should know that the maximum number of casualties are from All India Trinamool Congress. The maximum number of deaths and injuries are from our party," she averred.

"All those who’ve lost their lives in the violence during the entire Panchayat Elections campaign, be it pre-poll, or post-poll, or during the election day, we are providing their families with Rs 2 lakh compensation from the State government’s end, apart from a job to one of the family members," Banerjee announced.

"Those who have suffered injuries in the violence perpetrated by the Opposition during the Panchayat Elections and are hospitalised, we are providing them Rs 50,000 as compensation, " she further announced.

"The remaining amount, we will disburse from our end within the next couple of days. The jobs are also ready, we will start issuing letters to the kin of the deceased soon, " the CM informed.

Accusing the saffron brigade of resorting to "divisive" politics and creating a wedge among the people, Banerjee said," Violence and anarchy are their main weapon. But as long as I'm alive, nobody can do any harm to Bengal."
