India may host Global South Summit this month

| @indiablooms | Aug 02, 2024, at 05:11 am

The Indian government is likely to host the third edition of the Global South Summit this month, media reports said.

The event will be held virtually.

Indian PM Narendra Modi is likely to chair the meeting.

Currently, New Delhi is sending out invites, with sources in various global capitals confirming that they have received the invites, reported WION.

This is going to be the first such summit under the leadership of Modi since he came to power in India for the third term.

Officially referred to as the 'Summit of the Global South', the first edition of the summit took place in January 2023 in the year of India's G20 presidency. India, by hosting this summit, plans to provide a platform for countries of the Global South to share their perspectives, challenges, and priorities on a common platform, WION news channel reported.
