India, Russia sign deal to set up two nuclear power units in Tamil Nadu

St Petersburg, June 1 (IBNS): India and Russia on Thursday signed a deal to set up last two nuclear power units of Kundankulam in the state of Tamil Nadu with help of Moscow, according to media reports.

Reports suggest that the two units will have the capacity to produce 1,000 MW of power.

The two units will be built up by India's nucleur Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) and Russia's Atomstreyexport company, a subsidiary of Rosatom, the regulatory body of the Russian nucleur complex.

Reports suggested that the two most valuable outcome after the talk between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin are the General Framework Agreement (GFA) and the Credit Protocol for two last nuclear power units.
