Indian Army officer killed in Beerwah area of central Kashmir's Budgam district
According to sources, 53 RR Junior Commissioned officer (JCO) Raj Kumar received a bullet injury in his thigh during a late-night search operation in Drung village.
“Officer was rushed to nearby hospital in a critical condition. He was then referred to Srinagar Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” said a police official.
Meanwhile, Srinagar-based defense spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said the soldier was killed in cross-fire.
"Army JCO was killed in a brief encounter with militants at Beerwa Budgam in central Kashmir while laying a cordon", an army officer said.
