Indian government announces 946 Gallantry, Service medals on Republic Day
New Delhi/UNI: The Indian Government on Monday announced a total of 946 Gallantry and Service medals on the occasion of Republic Day, 2021.
Under this, two President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) and 205 Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) have been awarded to the Police personnel across the country.
A total of 89 police officials have been awarded with President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) while 650 personnel have been conferred with Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM)
Among the majority of the 207 Gallantry Awards, one PPMG to Jharkhand police Assistant Sub-Inspector Banua Oraon and another to CRPF’s Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohan Lal have been given posthumously,137 personnel have been awarded for their gallant action in Jammu and Kashmir, 24 personnel for their gallant action in Left Wing Extremism affected areas and one personnel for their gallant action in North-East Region.
Out of 250 President Medal for Gallantry, 52 Jammu and Kashmir Police officials have been awarded with PMG, followed by 20 from Delhi Police, 13 from Maharashtra and 8 from Chhattisgarh.
Seven police personnel of the Uttar Pradesh have been awarded with PPM for Distinguished Services, followed by four each from the Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharashtra police, three each from Delhi Police and Tamil Nadu Police whereas Andaman & Nicobar Islands is only Union Territory to get PPM for Distinguished Services.
In CPOs and CAPF, Intelligence Bureau (IB) received eight PPM for Distinguished Services followed by seven from CBI, six from CRPF, five from BSF, three from ITBP, two from SSB.
Under the PPM for Meritorious Services, 72 Uttar Pradesh police officials have been awarded followed by 40 personnel from Maharashtra, 17 each from Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir and Tamil Nadu and 18 from Delhi Police.
The forex market will remain close on Tuesday on account of ' Republic Day', traders informed.
