Indian PM Narendra Modi wishes Lata Mangeshkar on birthday

New Delhi, Sept 28 (IBNS): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday wished singer Lata Mangeshkar on her birthday.

Lata Mangeshkar, one of the iconic Indian singers, turned 88.

Wishing her on birthday, the PM tweeted: "Respected Lata Didi, best wishes to you on your birthday. Your exceptional work, spanning decades has endeared you to crores of Indians. You have always been passionate about our country’s development. May you lead a long life filled with good health. @mangeshkarlata."

Mangeshkar is the second female musician after MS Subbulakshmi to receive the Bharat Ratna, India's highest honour.

A doyenne among playback singers, her career spans over seven decades.
