Inflation at peak in BJP govt, which promised to double income: Akhilesh Yadav

Hardoi (UP)/UNI: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has drained the economy of the country and said that inflation is at its peak during its tenure notwithstanding a promise to double the farmers' income by 2022.

Talking to the reporters here, Akhilesh said that the people are disappointed with the Union Budget. "Nothing has been said about controlling the spiralling inflation and no decision has been taken to reduce unemployment. Inflation is at its peak and prices of essential items like flour and oil is skyrocketing. BJP has drained the economy of the country."

He said that factories were set up in Sandila during the SP regime, but after that, not a single factory has been set up in the Hardoi district.

Accusing BJP of hurting communal harmony, Akhilesh said, "Our India looks good only when it's like a bouquet in which every colour is included."

Taking a jibe at the BJP's victory in the biennial elections of the Legislative Council, whose result was announced on Friday, the SP chief said that BJP first cheats and then congratulates each other for it.

"This is not the first election, such elections have been held even before," he said.
