Jammu: Amid rising tension over some 'objectionable posts' on social media, the administration has imposed restrictions under Section 144 in Bhaderwah town of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening.

Official sources some objectionable posts on the social media, that have hurt the sentiments of a particular community, triggered protests in the Bhaderwah town.

“Sensing the situation and to prevent any law and order problem in the area, restrictions were immediately imposed as preventive measures to avoid any untoward incident,” they said.

However, the senior officers from the police and the administration besides army and paramilitary forces are also camping in the area to defuse the tension.

Notably, protests also erupted last week across Jammu region over the attack on Vasuki Nag Temple in Kailash Kund in Bhaderwah area after which a case was registered and the matter is being investigated.

The Doda District administration has appealed to the media fraternity not to post any objectionable material in the social media thereby harming communal fabrics of the society.

“Also if someone has posted some objectionable thing it is requested to delete it. Your insensible post can cost society. Be responsible and do realistic journalism. If any material found irrational and blasphemous may please be brought to the notice of the administration so that proper and legal action under rules is initiated immediately,” an official said in a message.

He said that keeping in view the prevailing law and order situation Section 144 CrPC is also imposed in Sub Division Gandoh with immediate effect.
