Jammu and Kashmir: BSF jawan commits suicide in Kupwara

Srinagar, Jul 23 (UNI) A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting self in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara, official sources said on Tuesday.

They said a 42-year-old jawan, who was posted in Nowgam sector in Kupwara, allegedly committed suicide by shooting self with his service rifle in a room at the BSF camp late on Monday evening.

'Other jawans rushed to the room and saw Ravinder Kumar lying in a pool of blood,' they said, adding that he was immediately taken to a medical facility where he was declared brought dead.

It was not immediately clear why he took this extreme step, they said, adding that police has registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the circumstances which forced him to commit suicide.
