Jammu and Kashmir: Police arrest LeT militant, 2 hand grenades recovered

Srinagar: Security forces have arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba militant in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, police said on Friday.

They said the arrest was made during a cordon and a search operation in Zalwan nursery of the district.

"Acting on specific information regarding movement of militants, Bandipora police along with 14 RR and 3rd Bn CRPF launched a joint CASO.During search one locally trained terrorist of LeT was apprehended ," a police statement said.

The arrested militant was identified as Shahid Hussain Bhat of Bandipora.

"On his disclosure two hand grenades were recovered which he had kept in paddy fields," it added.

"The arrested terrorist was in touch with terrorist of LeT in PoK and was given the task to target police / security forces in Bandipora.He was also given the task by his handlers across the border to mobilise the youth in Bandipora for recruiting them in banned terrorist organization LeT," the statement said.

A case was registered in police station Bandipora and further investigation has been take up.
