Jammu and Kashmir: Policeman killed by militants in Anantnag

Srinagar/UNI: A policeman was killed by militants in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, a police official said on Monday.

He said militants fired at a policeman, identified as Selection Grade Constable (Sgct) Manzoor Ahmad, near his resident at Bahi Kokernag in Anantnag late on Sunday evening.

“Manzoor was critically injured in the attack,” he said, adding the militants managed to escape from the spot.

He said the wounded was immediately taken to a hospital where he succumbed.

“Security forces were rushed to the area and a search operation was launched to nab the attackers," he said.

"Police has registered a case in this incident under relevant sections of law", he said, adding investigation is in progress and officers are working to establish full circumstances of this terror crime.
