Jaya Bachchan slams BJP for youth leader's remarks on Mamata head

New Delhi, Apr 12 (IBNS) : While Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Wednesday condemned a BJP youth wing member's announcement of a Rs. 11 lakh bounty on the head of West Bengal chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan in Rajya Sabha went ballistic and said while "you one talks about protecting cows there is no protection for women feeling insecure owing to such remarks."

"How dare someone talks like this?" she thundered in Parliament for the remarks of the BJP youth leader in West Bengal against a woman chief minister.

She said it is for these reasons that women are feeling insecure today.

Jaya's remark in Parliament came amid a high controversy after Yogesh Varshney, member of BJP's youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha,  threatened  Banerjee, announcing an "11 lakh rupee reward" for her head.

The call was given in the wake of Hanuman Jayanti clashes in Birbhum, some 180 km from state capital Kolkata.

Earlier it was reported that police had stopped a procession celebrating Hanuman Jayanti and even resorted to lathi charge when the crowd didn't disperse.

Varshney also equated Banerjee with a demon.

Meanwhile, the BJP has come under severe criticism from the opposition, following their Ram Navami celebrations in West Bengal, where its open display of swords were deemed repulsive to Bengali culture.
