J&K: 10 Indian soldiers missing in massive avalanche

New Delhi, Feb 3 (IBNS) A massive avalanche at the northern base camp of the Indian army at the Siachen glacier, in Jammu Kashmir, has trapped 10 soldiers and rescue operation is on to save them, according to sources.

The base camp is situated at a height of approximately 19,000 feet and a difficult terrain.

The Madras Regiment is stationed at the region where the avalanche occurred. A stone bunker has gone under the pile of snow and rubble, according to media reports.

Rescue teams of the Indian Army, the Army aviation helicopters and the Indian Air Force helicopters have been pressed into service for the rescue of the missing soldiers.
