J&K HC orders probe into cricket scam
The Court directed the CBI to complete the probe within a period of six months.
The division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and justice B L Bhat directed the agency to complete the probe into Rs 113 crore-scam within six months.
The cricket scandal surfaced during National Conference-Congress rule and besides others, the accused include National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah.
The scam came into light in March 2012 after JKCA’s treasurer Manzoor Wazir had filed a police complaint against the JKCA office-bearers Mohammad Saleem Khan (former general secretary) and Ahsan Mirza (former treasurer).
Soon, a list of around 50 individuals was out.
In June this year, Abdullah was ousted from the post of the JKCA president for the first time since he was first elected more than three decades ago.
The judgment was earlier reserved on a petition seeking probe into the misappropriation.
