J&K: Militant arrested

Srinagar, Jan 4 (IBNS): Security forces arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant from north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Wednesday.

According to reports on an intelligence input, a joint team of the army and the police arrested Ashiq Mohd alias Abu Haider of (LeT) from Handwara town of the district, a police official said.

“Huge cache of arms and ammunition, including an AK-47 rifle, three magazines, a, three hand grenades, a magazine pouch and a map, was
seized from him,” official added.

Official further said he was a close associate of Abu Bakar - an LeT Commander- who was killed in an encounter in Sopore town of north
Kashmir last month.
