J&K: Three brothers killed in blast
Jammu, Dec 23 (IBNS) Three brothers were killed in a blast near Birma Bridge in Udhampur district of Jammu region on Wednesday.
A police official said that a mysterious blast occurred in a nallah near Birma Bridge of the district resulting in serious injuries to three siblings.
He said three brothers in the age group of 7-15 were killed in the blast.
The deceased were identified as Meheshu, 7, Deepu, 10, and Vikar, 15, sons of Bola Ram of Ramban district presently living in the Udhampur.
Senior Police official told IBNS in Jammu, that preliminary investigation suggested that the boys had found the device and they were fiddling with it when the blast occurred.
“After conducting all legal formalities, the bodies were later handed over to their family members for last rites," the official said.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and started further investigations in this matter.
J&K Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed expressed profound shock over the death of three brothers in the explosion.
He conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family members and prayed for peace to the departed souls.
Mufti instructed Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, to inquire into the incident and extended all possible assistance to the bereaved family.
