Karnataka impact: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav to meet Governor over government formation

Patna, May 17 (IBNS): Amid the slug-fest between the Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) combine and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the formation of the Karnataka government, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaderTejashwi Yadav has raised a question as to why his party was not asked to form the Bihar government despite being the single largest political outfit in the eastern state.

In a tweet, Tejashwi said: "We are not only single largest party but single largest block of pre poll alliance in Bihar. Then why should we not be called to form government in Bihar? Tomorrow at 1 PM will meet Bihar Governor."

The RJD leader's comment came on the day when BJP's BS Yeddyurappa took oath as the Karnataka CM as the saffron outfit formed a minority government in the state.

Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala on Wednesday invited Yeddyurappa to take oath and granted 15 days to prove majority considering the BJP as the single largest party in the state.

The Governor's decision has triggered a controversy as the Congress and the JD(S), which have joined hands after the poll results, were not invited to form the government despite having the simple majority (113).

The Congress has raised the Goa, Manipur instances where it was not asked to form the government despite emerging as the single largest party.

Taking a cue from the Karnataka slug-fest, former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi said he will meet Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik at 1 pm on Friday. In the 2015 Bihar state polls, former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad's RJD emerged as the single largest party.

Though the grand alliance- which was formed by RJD, Janata Dal (United) and Congress- constituted the government in 2015, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JD(U) broke out of the alliance to join hands with the BJP in 2017.
