Karnataka local body election results: Congress surges ahead of BJP

Bengaluru, Sept 3 (IBNS): The Congress is surging ahead of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as counting of votes for Karnataka urban local body election is underway.

According to News 18, the results have been declared so far on 2,267 seats.

Out of 2,267 seats, the Congress has won 846 seats leaving behind 788 for the BJP.

The Janata Dal (Secular) has won 307 seats so far.

All political parties had contested the election separately.

The Congress and the JD(S), which are now running the Karnataka government together, might stitch a post-poll alliance, report said.
