Karnataka man chops off finger in support of PM Narendra Modi

In an unusual gesture of support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Karnataka, a man chopped off his finger.

After chopping off the finger as an offering to Goddess Kali for PM Modi's third term, Arun Varnekar wrote a plea to Goddess Kali and proclaimed Modi as the greatest on his house wall with his bloodied finger.

Varnekar's depth of respect and devotion is further exemplified by the construction of a temple dedicated to PM Modi within his home and the regular offering of prayers in his honour.

Temples in Indian culture are traditionally associated with the worship of gods and goddesses, so the act of building one for a political figure is highly unusual and reflects an exceptional level of admiration.

Varnekar claimed that under PM Modi's leadership, the turmoil with neighbouring countries has diminished, particularly in the context of Kashmir.

PM Modi's approach to Kashmir, including the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, has been touted by some as a step towards resolving long-standing issues and promoting peace and development in the region.

Varnekar decided to relocate from the bustling environment of the Mumbai film industry to Karwar to care for his elderly mother. Despite being unmarried, he prioritised his mother's well-being above personal ambitions or pursuits.
