New Delhi/ IBNS: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said the new government have started working in a full-fledged manner and that he did not keep any portfolio with himself for overall monitoring.

Addressing a Press conference, Kejriwal said: "The new government have started functioning in a full-fledged manner. Barring a few minor changes all the ministers remain same. We wish to work with even more zeal for the next five years.

He said that many people are asking why he hasn't kept any portfolio of the Delhi government with him.

"Many are wondering why I have not kept any portfolio with me. I did so since I want to monitor all the ministries. That is more important to keep an eye over all departments as I have a commitment to the people of Delhi," said he.

"If you get too entangled in a ministry and petty details then the rest of the work suffers," he explained.

Earlier in the evening, Kejriwal met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the latter's residence, in a 'courtesy call' after the Assembly polls in Delhi.

Addressing the press conference after the meeting, Kejriwal said, "I met with Home Minister Amit Shah Ji today. It was a fruitful meeting, with a cordial atmosphere. Various issues and matters concerning the people of Delhi were discussed during the meeting. We mutually agreed on working together for the development of Delhi."

Kejriwal informed that the central and state government will work together on various matters including women security to avoid any differences in approach, as there is a major division of power and responsibilities when it comes to the functioning of departments in Delhi.

This is the first meet after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener took over the reins of the national capital for the third consecutive term at the Ramlila Maidan, on Feb 16.

Speaking on that day, Kejriwal had made it clear that he wants to work with his opponents as well for the welfare of people of Delhi.

He had appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to support him develop Delhi.

Kejriwal had said there is a need to rise above all party politics and think for the welfare of Delhi and the nation.

"All the 2 crore people of Delhi are my family members. Whichever party you belong to...it doesn't matter, come to me anytime you need," he had said.

"I have forgiven all my opponents for their hate speech. I want to work for the welfare of Delhi with all parties," Kejriwal had said.
