Kejriwal to highlight his govt's achievements in 100 days at public meet today

New Delhi, May 25 (IBNS): To mark his 100 days of power in office, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with his ministers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government will hold a public meeting at Connaught Place in the national capital on Monday.
He expected to highlight the achievements of his government in Delhi in the last 100 days in an interactive session with the residents of the capital at Central Park.

Kejriwal might also throw some light on his ongoing tussle with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.

Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi government on Sunday completed 100 days of power in office.

However, the controversies marring Kejriwal's government is more talked about than the achievements.

The government is at present marked by huge tussle with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung over the appointments, postings and transfers of senior IAS officers.

Despite popular measures like reducing electricity tariffs by half, 20,000 litres of free water per household, halting demolitions in unauthorised colonies, compensation of Rs 50,000 per hectare for farmers, the first 100 days of the AAP government is receiving more flak than praises.

The Delhi government on Saturday called for an emergency session of the Delhi assembly from Tuesday.

The two-day session will see the  government deliberating over the Central government's notification  to give absolute powers to the Lieutenant Governor of the national capital in case of appointment of bureaucrats and regarding issues connected to the police and public order, reports said.

The power struggle between Delhi's two top men began soon after Jung decided to promote IAS officer Shakuntala Gamlin as acting Chief Secretary of Delhi, without consulting the Chief Minister.

Kejriwal retaliated by removing the officer who signed off on the Lieutenant Governor's order while principal Secretary Anindo Majumdar  was locked out of his office on Monday.

Both Arvind Kejriwal and the Lieutenant Governor met President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday and accused each other of violating the Constitution.

AAP, which earlier was in power in Delhi for 49 days with Congress support before Kejriwal resigned in Feb 2014, swept the polls in Delhi on Feb 10 by winning a record number of 67 of the total 70 seats.
