Kejriwal undergoes "penance" by washing dishes at Golden Temple

Amritsar, July 18 (IBNS): Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo, Arvind Kejriwal on Monday cleaned dishes at Golden Temple for what he considered to be his penance for an unintentional mistake, reports said.

Entering the shrine before daybreak, Kejriwal spent 45 minutes there, but was careful to not sweep the floors as the broom is his party's symbol.

The incident took place earlier this month, as a complaint was filed against AAP spokesperson Ashish Khetan, who equated their youth manifesto with the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy books of the Sikhs.

The alleged incident did not go too well as a bunch of angry protesters cried foul and demanded punishment against Khetan for hurting their religious sentiments.

"I had come here to offer voluntary service to apologise for the unintentional mistake committed in our youth manifesto... I have peace of mind now," the Delhi CM was quoted as saying by NDTV.
