Kerala witnesses state-wide vehicle strike today

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 24 (IBNS): Kerala on Wednesday witnessed a state-wide dawn-to-dusk vehicle strike, called by major trade unions in the state to mark a protest against the increase in petrol and diesel prices, media reports said.

The strike is effective from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m..

Private stage carriers, rickshaws, taxis were  not seen on road for the day.

AITUC, INTUC affiliated unions have extended their support to the trade unions which have called the strike.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday requested the trade union to call off the strike.
