Guwahati, Oct 17 (IBNS) : NSCN-K's Chairman Khango Konyak has been elected as the new Chairman of United Nationals Liberation Front of West South East Asia (UNLF), an umbrella organisation of many militant groups in the North East India.

Khango Konyak had took charge the top post of UNLFW during the general session held on Oct 13-14 at the Myanmar based headquarter of NSCN-K.

Outlawed NSCN-K hosted the UNLFW(United Nationals Liberation Front of West South-East Asia) general session convened at their headquarter in Taka.
In a press release sent by NSCN-K's Deputy army chief Isak Sumi said that, the house observed a minute silence and obesiance bow in remeberence and honour of the UNLFW's founding Chairman late SS Khaplang.

The house in the first session unanimously elected Lt.Gen.(rtd.) Khango Konyak as the new Chairman of the UNLFW.

"The house deliberated on various issues confronting the Wesean region and resolved to jointly work out programs, policies and strategies to tackle relevant issues of the region and further reaffirmed the peaceful approach of settling any internal issues among the front's member organisations and also to strive to build friendly relations with other non-member revolutionary organisations professing same principles and ideologies. The establishment of the Front and the functions of various committees and organs was fully formalised during the sessions by the house's approving of the Front's logo, nomenclature and the motto," Isak Sumi said.

In the press release, Sumi said that, the Chairman of the UNLFW has been empowered with full executive authority to direct or execute any actions or policies on behalf of the front and also during emergencies.

"Other non-UNLFW organisations operating in the Wesea region are asked to desist from crediting the front of any actions or activities unless on consultation and agreement even in the event of joint-ventures. It must be understood that all the Wesean organisations are not a member of the front and there is a need to clearly differentiate between UNLFW and other Wsea organisations currently maintaining the same base area. Using Wsea doesn't necessarily mean UNLFW which at present is comprised of NSCN/GPRN, ULFA(I), NDFB and KLO," Sumi said.

The top leader of the Naga outfit group further said that, the house also firmly resolved and directed the member organisations to refrain from using the Front's platform in any way including issuing of statements to the media and foreign parley without the prior approval or consent of the Chairman,UNLFW.

"The house also deliberated on the appeal of PDCK(Karbi) and NLFT(Tripuri) for admission to the Front and has endorsed the matter to the Chairman for necessary favourable actions at an earliest.

The 15 points rules and regulations has been adopted as the disciplinary guidelines mandatory for all the affiliated member organisations and all the members of the house solemnly affirmed to work together in abidence of the above adoptions and also of the Front's motto:  "One people, one region, one vision"," Isak Sumi said in the release.
The session concluded on the second day with a prayer and lunch.
