Kolkata: Court sends Parvez Arsalan to 12 days police custody for causing death to two Bangladeshi nationals with his Jaguar

Kolkata, Aug 18 (UNI) Arsalan Parvez (23), accused of causing death to two Bangladeshi corporate officials when his Jaguar rammed a Mercedes Benz which hit the duo at the crossings of Loudon Street and ShakespeareSarani in the city early Saturday was remanded to 12 days police custody by an order from a city court today.

The scion of poplar biryani food chain restaurant, Arsalan, has been arrested nearly 10 hours after his Jaguar F-Pace alleged to have made several signal violations with break-neck speed before ramming the Mercedes Benz sedan around 0200 hours on Saturday that killed two Bangladeshi nationals.

Kazi Mohammed Mainul Alam (36) and Farhana Islam Tania (28), were declared brought dead at the SSKM Hospital.

The deceased and their companion Kazi Md Safi (37) had taken shelter under a Traffic Police kiosk to protect themselves from rain. The kiosk also collapsed in the impact after the Mercedes was thrown out of road. Safi was also treated at the SSKM Hospital. The trio was here from Bangladeshi for eatment of Mainul Alam, who had an eye problem.

Mainul, a resident of Jhinaidaha was an employee of Grameen Phone and Tania was assistant vice-president of Bangladesh City Bank.

Owner of Marcedes Amit Kazaria ( 50) and his wife Kanika Kazaria was also injured.

Arsalan Parvez has been arrested under various sections including, IPC 279, 427, 304(2) and 308 and others. After the accident, he fled  abandoning his fancy car on the road.

The judge at the Bank shall Court, after being produced of the accused, ordered further police remand until August 29.
