Kolkata jewellery shop robbed in broad daylight

| | Jul 28, 2017, at 05:15 am
Kolkata, Jul 27 (IBNS): Armed dacoits stormed a jewellery store in southern Kolkata's Jodhpur Park area on Thursday afternoon, reports said.

According to reports, at least four unidentified miscreants, armed with guns, attacked the showroom of Chandrani Jewellers at Gariahat Road under Lake Police Station limits and robbed jewellery worth lakhs from the store.

"After beating our showroom's security guard, 4-5 dacoits entered the shop at around 2:30 pm. and completed the operation in just 10 minutes. They soon fled with jewellery worth lakhs," a staffer of the jewellery shop told IBNS.

"As their faces were covered with masks and they wore raincoats, we could not recognize any of them," the staffer added.

Local police, however, started investigation into the case while no arrest been reported yet.

"As all CCTV cameras of the store are inoperative, we did not get any footage of the incident," an official of local police station told IBNS. "We are taking footage from nearby shops, offices and road-crossings and quizzing the eyewitnesses to get a fair idea of the incident."
