Kolkata, Jun 30 (IBNS): Hours after two youths were held for allegedly demanding extortion money for admission in north Kolkata's Maharaja Sris Chandra College, the city police on Saturday evening launched two Whatsapp numbers and an email id for lodging complaints relating to extortion in campuses, reports said.

"We have launched two Whatsapp numbers, 8420758994 and 6290961121, and one email id, KolkataPolice120@gmail.com, that students or guardians can complain against the alleged demands of extortion for college admission," a senior official of Kolkata Police told IBNS.

"If anyone demands extortion money to manage admission in any college within the city limits, students or their parents or any other person can lodge complaint with us by forwarding details of the incident to us through Whatsapp or email," the official added.

After a man lodged a complaint with Shyampukur Police Station that two persons had demanded extortion from him for managing his kin's admission in Maharaja Sris Chandra College, police on Saturday arrested two accused- Ritesh Jaiswal (23) and Lalsaheb Gupta (25)- who are reportedly active members of state ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC)'s students' wing- Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP).
