Kolkata: Youth from Malda with nearly Rs 2 lakh fake Indian currencies arrested
Kolkata, Aug 18 (UNI) A 22-year-old-youth from Malda district was arrested by the STF of Kolkata Police for possessing Rs 1,92 lakh fake Indian currencies from Strand Road near Babughat, police said today.
Among others, Yusuf Sheikh who was carrying 96 notes of Rs 2000 fake currencies were arrested while trying to sneak into the city markets for an ulterior motive, police added.
Malda and Murshidabad districts of West Bengal have been known corridors to smuggled in fake currencies from across the border of Bangladesh, police investigating the crime said.
