Lalu Prasad paying the price for raising his voice against BJP: RJD

Patna, Sept 12 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): Is there any connection between Lalu Prasad’s rally against the BJP and confiscation of his alleged benami properties? The issue has cropped up as the central agencies go on confiscating the alleged benami properties of RJD chief Prasad and his extended family.

The agencies which include the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax Department have so far seized his around a dozen benami properties worth Rs 175 crores located in Delhi and Patna in the past over month.

They include Palam-based farm house of Misa Bharti, Friends Colony-based house owned by Tejashwi Yadav  and his two sisters Chanda and Ragini, in Delhi, nine land plots in Danapar owned by Tejashwi Yadav and his mother Rabri Devi and another three land plots owned by Tejashwi and his mother in Danapur in Patna district.

The RJD people alleged the central agencies turned aggressive against Lalu Prasad and his family soon after he announced a massive rally against the BJP nicked “BJP Hatao, Desh Bachao” (Evict the BJP to save the country).

The RJD announced for holding this rally at its three-day training camp held at Rajgir in Nalanda in May this year.

At the rally, the RJD president announced to bring all the top opposition leaders across the country at a single platform and launched a concerted battle against the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

But it was from here that the trouble started unfolding for Prasad and his family, analysts say.

The first major setback came when the CBI registered a case against the RJD president, his son Tejashwi Yadav (then deputy chief minister in the erstwhile Grand Alliance government) and his wife Rabri Devi in the railway hotel scandal. This was soon followed by massive raids by the CBI at Prasad’s Patna residence in his absence on July 7.

The second setback came when chief minister Nitish Kumar dumped the Grand Alliance and formed government with the BJP against whom he had won elections, barely a fortnight later on July 26.

Subsequently, routine setbacks have now become a part of Prasad’s family with seizure of his properties taking place at regular intervals.

RJD people say Prasad is paying the price for raising his voice against the BJP.
