Baharampur/UNI: The normal life in Murshidabad district was partially affected due to the 12 hour Bangla Bandh called by the Left and the Congress in protest against the crackdown on students and activists.

Even though the government offices were open, employee attendance was thin.

Trains operated from Lalgola but the fewer trains reached from Sealdah to the district.

The government buses ran with very few passengers but most of the private buses remained off the roads.

Streets in the district wore a deserted look as there were few autos and totos on the streets.

In the morning few protestors burnt tires and blocked roads in Kandi.

Though the schools reopened today after months of closure due to Covid-19 but functioned with very low attendance.

In Domkal one school was forcefully shut down.

Baharampur Municipality functioned normally. The office of District Magistrate also functioned in a usual manner with proper attendance of employees.

There was no news of any untoward incident. Police maintained strict vigilance throughout the district.
