Anantnag, Jun 20 (UNI): Life returned to normal in Anantnag on Thursday after remaining paralysed for a day on the 25th death anniversary of founder of Ummat-e-Islami (UeI) Mirwaiz Qazi Nissar Ahmad.
However, business and other activities remained affected in Bijbehara and adjoining areas for the third day today against the killing of two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants on June 18. A soldier also was martyred and two others injured in the encounter.
Shops and business establishments reopened in Anantnag town and adjoining areas. Traffic was also plying normally on all routes. Educational institutions, tuition and coaching centres were functioning normally. Government offices and banks were also functioning.
However, additional security forces and state police personnel remained deployed at sensitive places to prevent any law and order problem.
Mirwazi Qazi, a pro-separatist leader, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Dialgam on June 19, 1994.
