New Delhi, May 3 (IBNS/UNI) At a time when the country is voting in the Lok Sabha polls , Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Gandhi Nagar (Delhi) Anil Bajpai joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday.

The AAP MLA joined the BJP in presence of Union Minister Vijay Goel and Delhi BJP in-charge Shyam Jaju at the Delhi BJP office here.

BJP Delhi tweeted: "Shri Anil Bajpai , MLA Gandhinagar, Delhi joined BJP today in the presence of Shri @VijayGoelBJP , Shri @ShyamSJaju , Shri @kuljeetschahal & Shri @guptaravinder71."

Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had slammed Goel for his statement that 14 AAP MLAs were in touch with the BJP.

Attacking Goel over his remarks, Kejriwal in a tweet said, ''Goyal Sahib, where the talk has been struck? How much are you paying? How much are they demanding?''

The AAP leader's resignation today comes just days ahead of the May 12 polling in Delhi for seven Lok Sabha seats.

In Delhi, there is daylong voting in the sixth and penultimate phase of the general elections.

The seven-phase Lok Sabha polls will culminate on May 19 and results will be announced on May 23.
