Lucknow/IBNS: After watching 'The Kerala Story' at a special screening on Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that 'love jihad' is an agenda of undeclared terrorism against humanity.

"The Kerala Story draws the attention of the entire nation to the conspiracy like 'Love Jihad'. The entire society must be made aware of this distortion. A commendable and brave effort has been made in this regard by the film's producer, director and entire team," the UP CM said.

He said that the UP government follows the policy of zero tolerance against every distortion that hinders social unity, challenges national unity, and poses a threat to humanity.

"That's why our government has effectively implemented the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act on November 27, 2020, by first making an ordinance and then a duly enacted law against perversion like Love Jihad," he said.

Earlier, CM Yogi along with his cabinet colleagues and others watched 'The Kerala Story' film at a special screening organised at Lok Bhawan.

During the screening, a large number of office-bearers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), women associated with various social and cultural organisations, school students and media representatives were also present.

Yogi through a tweet congratulated all the people associated with the film and sent his best wishes.

According to official records, since the implementation of the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act in November 2020, a total of 433 cases have been registered in the state so far under this law.

Action has been taken against 1,471 accused including a total of 1,229 accused named in these charges and a total of 242 accused who came to light during the investigation, in which 855 arrests have been made.

According to the latest situation, 339 charge sheets have been sent to the court and 184 victims have even confessed before the court that they were forcibly converted. Of these, 66 charges are related to minors.
