Madras High Court asks Tamil Nadu govt not to open TASMAC liquor shops for three months
On Monday, the DMK and others had approached the Madras High Court to stall any attempt by the state government to get around the Supreme Court's order regarding the ban on sale of alcohol within 500 meters of the highway.
The DMK's appeal was based on a circular issued on Apr 21 by the state government asking officers concerned to pass resolutions to hand over roads belonging to various departments including the State Highways to the respective Corporations/Municipalities, reported The Hindu.
